How are frames measured?

Frames are always measured from the inside (rabbet) of the frame.

In the example below, the rabbet( the frame's opening/inside) will be exactly 8x10" inches.

For example, the actual size of a Econo picture frame For a  8" x 10 " frame is:

Example: 8"X10" Econo Picture Frame

Frame Width:      8+(2" 1/8)+(7/8"liner size) =  11" Inches

Frame Height:     10 (2" 1/8)+(7/8"liner size) = 13"  Inches

Frame thickness: 4/4"

Liner size:            7/8"
